Kingston, ON – 09/05/25 – RXN HUB, an organization dedicated to advancing the commercialization of chemical technologies, is proud to announce a Technology Adoption Alliance with Utilities Kingston, a unique multi-utility provider in the City of Kingston. This Alliance connects technology developers with water, wastewater, natural gas, electrical and broadband networking service providers, offering a unique opportunity to share information, identify potential piloting opportunities and contribute to improving the success rate of chemical technology development projects. The goal of the joint initiative is to make Kingston’s services more effective, resilient, and sustainable.
RXN HUB and Utilities Kingston will work together to support the adoption and integration of next-generation technologies into core municipal infrastructure. By leveraging Utilities Kingston's one-of-a-kind service model, companies working with RXN HUB may gain access to real-world conditions to test, validate, and iterate their technologies, while also gathering critical feedback from a potential end-user.

“This initiative reflects the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change. By piloting
emerging technologies in real-world conditions, we are not just preparing for what comes next. We are helping build it,” said David Fell, President and CEO of Utilities Kingston. “Together, we are supporting innovation that will make our community stronger, more sustainable and better prepared for the future.”
This collaboration creates a launchpad for a wide range of emerging technologies, including:
Grid-level innovations in clean energy and electrification (e.g. batteries, power transmission, power generation, etc.)
Water and wastewater treatment solutions (e.g. new processes, sanitation, etc.)
Community broadband networks (e.g. fibre, IoT, SMART city, etc.)
When combined with RXN HUB’s piloting and manufacturing facilities at their 220,000 sq.ft. home for chemistry, innovation, and entrepreneurship, the Technology Adoption Alliance enables RXN HUB’s network of service providers, vendors, and partners to support the most impactful technologies; from early validation to pilot deployment and into commercial integration.
“Canada can rise to the occasion by collaboratively creating platforms to enable innovations that directly address the productivity and resiliency of our domestic economy.”, comments Sebastian Alamillo the Director of Strategy and Industry for RXN HUB. “With our first few projects in the pipeline for later this year, I am excited to see RXN HUB starting to deliver on a promise to create a fully supported pathway for commercialization”.
“The City of Kingston is proud to see the compounding effects of innovation for our community through this alliance between RXN HUB and Utilities Kingston. This collaboration exemplifies how strategic investment in cleantech and strong public-private partnerships can accelerate economic growth, foster sustainable infrastructure, and position Kingston as a leader in climate-forward innovation. By bridging world-class utilities with cutting-edge technology developers, we are building a more resilient, prosperous city”, said Craig Desjardins, Director of Strategy, Innovation and Partnerships at the City of Kingston.
The City of Kingston committed $3M towards the creation of a cleantech innovation HUB in August of 2022, which later became the RXN HUB.
